TCCP SPAY/NEUTER AGREEMENT
The Tioga County Cat Project (TCCP) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that holds low-cost mobile spay/neuter clinics in Tioga County PA partnering with nonprofit veterinary organization Spay Neuter Save Network. This waiver covers both feral/stray cats trapped on your property or pet cats belonging to you. This waiver will also cover any future cats you bring to TCCP’s program, unless terms of this agreement changes. Carefully read and understand all of the following before you fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Keep a copy of this form for your records.
I agree to the following terms:
1. I understand that TCCP is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that operates on donations. I understand that TCCP asks $95 for spay/neuter surgery and rabies and distemper vaccines for a pet cat unless otherwise agreed upon with TCCP. For strays, I understand that TCCP asks $80 for stray cats unless otherwise agreed upon with TCCP.
2. I understand that TCCP is NOT an adoption or relocation service. However, we do work with rescues at times to place friendly cats or kittens. I understand that unless I specifically request otherwise, friendly strays or unowned cats may be placed into a rescue or foster home to be placed up for adoption without prior notice. Please remember:
a. Returning fixed feral or stray cats to their original location deters new, unfixed cats from moving in. Fixing these cats cuts down on fighting, spraying, and related mayhem as well as preventing any more from being born.
b. Relocating these cats puts their lives at risk as they’ve likely become accustomed to their outdoor home and where to find food and shelter.
c. You are responsible for taking pet cats home or securing them a safe new home, preferably indoors if that’s where they previously lived.
3. I understand the cat/cats will be:
a. Spayed or neutered
i. If already sterilized, any donation made will go toward anesthesia/vaccine costs and will not be refunded. We will attempt to contact the owner if a microchip is found. If no microchip or owner are found, the cat will be vaccinated, ear tipped, and returned to its original location.
b. Vaccinated for rabies and distemper/panleukopenia
i. If the cat is already up to date on its rabies vaccine, you must provide a copy of this paperwork to volunteers at drop-off.
c. Ear-tipped
i. Ear-tipping is a safety precaution that allows trappers and residents to identify cats from a distance that have already been fixed. The procedure does not harm the cat and prevents them from being re-trapped and put through surgery again.
ii. All feral/stray cats that live outside MUST be ear tipped to be spay/neutered.
iii. Pet owners have the option to opt out of ear-tipping. However, we recommend even pet cats spending any time outside be ear-tipped as a safety precaution. If you do not request your cat not be, the cat will be ear-tipped.
4. I understand that there is a small risk of injury or death in the spay/neuter procedure and the use of anesthetics and drugs.
5. I understand that cats must remain in the container they came in (feral cats in live traps, pet cats or friendly strays in carriers) in order to have a safe surgery performed.
6. If the cat is pregnant at the time of surgery, I understand that pregnancy will be terminated.
7. I agree that any further medical procedure deemed necessary by TCCP or the veterinarian on the day of the surgery (i.e. treatment for ear mites or respiratory infection) will be performed without my permission due to the tight schedule and large number of cats seen at each clinic. I will be informed of any additional drugs given or procedures performed. I will be informed of any extra cost incurred by TCCP but will not be expected to pay unless willing on a donation basis.
8. I understand that keeping the cat calm is important for the healing procedure and failing to do so may result in requirement of further medical care. I understand that payment of any further procedures, medications, follow-up visits, etc. directly related to the spay/neuter surgery will be assessed by the TCCP board of directors on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed. I also understand it will be my responsibility regardless to schedule any such follow-up appointments with a vet of my choosing and to transport the cat to and from these appointments.
9. I understand any feral or stray cat who is medically untreatable, not healthy enough to be spayed/neutered, or in severe or chronic pain will be humanely euthanized at the veterinarian’s discretion. I understand I will be notified post-euthanasia. If pet cats are found to be medically untreatable or in severe or chronic pain, you will be informed by TCCP before any action is taken.
10. I understand that if a bite occurs during the cat’s stay, TCCP will follow public health rabies protocol.
11. I agree to drop off and pick up the cat at the clinic location at the agreed upon day and time. I agree to provide or find my own transportation to the meeting location. In rare cases, TCCP volunteers may be able to assist if you do not have transportation, but this is not the norm. I will let TCCP know ASAP if I do not have transportation. I understand if I don’t show without 24 hours notice, I will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
a. You will always be informed of drop-off time well in advance. We do not know the exactly pick-up times, but you will be contacted when the cat is able to be picked up.
b. If after the cat’s procedure, you are unreachable or do not show to the agreed upon pickup time and location, your cat will immediately be placed with a shelter partner or volunteer foster to be cared for until you can pick it up. You will be charged a daily boarding fee for every day your cat is there.
By electronically signing this waiver, I acknowledge that feral cats are wild animals which can be unpredictable in their behavior and are capable of inflicting serious bodily injury. I willingly assume the risk and responsibility of participating in this program. I hereby release the Tioga County Cat Project, all personnel, volunteers, and associated veterinarians from any and all claims arising out of or connected with the performance of this program and procedure or any adverse reactions to surgery or vaccinations. I agree that I have not and will not claim any right of compensation from them or file action by reason of such sterilizations or attempted sterilization of such animal or any consequences related thereto. Caregiver/agent hereby agrees to indemnify and hold the Tioga County Cat Project harmless for any damage caused during the transportation of the animal or for any damages caused by unforeseeable events including fire, vandalism, burglary, extreme weather, natural disasters, or other acts of nature.
